Seasonal Food August 2015

What is going on in the countryside surrounding Tetbury during August? Remaining true to our commitment to local Cotswolds produce means we allow seasonality to exert its natural influence and we look forward to the different varieties that each month brings. So what can you expect from this August's produce? What are the key driving forces for our many local suppliers? And how does all of this affect what is happening in our hotel and restaurant in Tetbury - The Priory Inn? Read more

The Priory Inn proudly presents Stargazy Fish Bar

Our newest venture serves traditional fish and chips with a twist. All our fish is fresh and we cook everything to order. You can choose to have your fish, prawns or squid battered or grilled, with chips or a Stargazy salad.

The fish bar is a relaxing place to eat in and watch the world go by, or enjoy your fish al fresco in the herb garden.  Of course many choose to take it all away and enjoy their meal at home. We have Cotswold beer, wine and softdrinks to have in or takeaway.

Since we do everything to order, why not call ahead so everything is ready for you when you arrive? Or, you can place your order and enjoy a pint or glass of wine from The Priory Inn. We will let you know when your order is ready.

See our Stargazy menu or call on 01666 500690.

360,000 brush strokes later...Rhumble is complete!

Carole Conde has completed Rhumble the handsome Minchinhampton Hereford on our restaurant wall.

Rhumble has taken: 170 hours / 40 pots of paint / 12 meters of timber / 360,000 brush strokes / 3,000 trips up and down the ladder / a massive allowance of fun / and huge injections of guest appreciation.

We have also thoroughly enjoyed the process of seeing Rhumble emerge from a massive white canvas on our large restaurant wall.  Carole Conde has been our local "artist in residence" since November working away on his gorgeous features, feathery ears and shiny nose.  Carole made Rhumble's acquaintance on Minchinhampton Common and his name derived from one of the ice-cream van's tastiest offerings - rhubarb and crumble. He is now for sale to a very good home.

Rhumble is now available framed as a limited edition print. Come and see us or contact Carole direct.

Rhumble's progress is documented here .

Prefer to eat at home?

We can serve you battered or grilled fresh fish cooked to order from Stargazy Fish Bar as well as gourmet burgers (local wagyu beef with cheese and bacon jam, lamb with chorizo and BBQ sauce or Teriyaki chicken with sweet chilli mayo and lime salsa).  Of course we have the best takeaway wood oven pizzas. To complete the perfect evening in, we have local ale, lagers and ciders in takeaway bottles.  It is all ready to go during service periods - just call through your order and come and collect!

Kitchen Herb Garden

A huge thank-you to the team here for working so hard to get us ready for the planting of our culinary and aromatic herb garden.  Jekka and Team McVicar have nurtured our plants in their Alveston herbetum and we have been eagerly waiting for the Spring to see them bedded in. Sunshine and rain will now be the perfect ingredients for an ever-changing garden this year and beyond.

The Priory Inn "30 Mile Food Zone"

In November 2008, we launched our "30 Mile Food Zone" (as the crow flies) at The Priory Inn.
It grew out of a belief in the quality of food and drink on offer so close to us here in Tetbury and a genuine desire to represent the suppliers, farmers, growers and local artisans on our menus and behind the bar.
It has become bigger than we could have imagined!
