Wooden Wonders at Westonbirt Arboretum - 14th February - 16th
February
This February half-term children can celebrate one of the most
remarkable materials on the planet - wood! There will be a special trail to find
secret skeletons, meet a tree or two and see how many wooden wonders there are
to spot along the way. At the education centre, children can have a go at a
range of wood-inspired arts and crafts activities, including making models with
sawdust, creating a wood block print design, building a mini hurdle and drawing
with charcoal. Wooden Wonders take place between 10.30am and 3.00pm 14 - 16
February. Activities are suitable for children aged four years and upwards.
Admission to Westonbirt Arboretum in February is £5 for adults, £4 concessions
and £2 children. Friends of Westonbirt Arboretum members and accompanying
children under 19 years old visit free.
Gatcombe Spring Horse Trials - 24th March - 25th March
Held at Gatcombe Park near Minchinhampton, the Spring Horse trials
are held on a different course to the Festival of Eventing in July 2012. Car and
occupants £6 plus programme £10.

6th April
Follow a trail of clues around the arboretum, explore early signs
of spring and solve a spring riddle for a sweet reward. Create a spring mask,

Westonbirt Arboretum Family Event - Jurassic and other ancient
plants - 10 - 12 April
Meet trees once nibbled by dinosaurs, some of the very first
flowers and an ancient tree that inspired the samurai! Make your own leaf fossil
and help create a giant picture of ancient plants with prehistoric paint,
